  1. Does the package price include taxes?
    • Yes, all PMT tour package prices include all taxes, and attraction entry fees.
    • There are no surprise fees or prices for items included in your tour package.
  2. Is my deposit refundable?
    • Yes, your deposit is fully refundable up to 30 days before the tour begins.
    • Your deposit locks in your spot on the tour and locks in your bike of choice.
    • The balance is required no later than 30 days before the tour begins, to hold your place on the tour.
  3. What is PMT’s cancellation policy?
    • You may cancel, up to 30 days before the scheduled beginning of the tour with full refund of all monies paid, minus any bank fees, related to the refund.
    • The refund will be at the exchange rate in place when the deposit(s) were paid.
    • Deposit & tour fees are non-refundable within 30 days of the start of the tour.
    • In place of a refund, you may request to roll you tour forward to another tour, in the following year.
    • If due to mechanical issues or damage; the bike of your choice is not available at the time of your tour, your bike selection may be changed.
    • If your bike choice needs to change your package price will be changed to accommodate the category change.
  4. Does PMT offer discounts or promotions?
    • Yes, discounts are available for early booking, seniors, or large groups.
    • See Discount & Promotion presentation.
    • For “Large group Discounts” cancellations may result in reduced discount values. Substitutions are permitted.
  5. What is the currency in NZ?
    • New Zealand uses the NZ dollar (NZ$).
    • The posted price in NZ includes all taxes. There are no surprises when you get to the till.
    • We recommend that you have some cash on hand for small purchases.
    • Using your credit card for large purchases and for gas lets you benefit from the exchange rate at the time of purchase.
    • NZ recognizes Visa, Mastercard, & American Express credit cards. American Express may not be accepted everywhere.
    • Some gas stations do not take foreign credit cards at the pump. They generally take them at the counter. Unmanned pump stations don’t take out of country credit cards.
  6. What currency is the tour priced in?
    • Each tour is priced in the currency of the country / region the tour takes place in.
    • We recommend you compare the tour price currency to your home country currency to see what your out-of-pocket cost will be in your normal currency.
  7. What is the exchange rate?
    • Exchange rates can change with no notice and you should verify it with a reputable financial institute.
    • The exchange rate at the time of your deposit is locked in. However, it may change favorably or unfavorably before you make your final payment 30 prior to the tour beginning.
    • We recommend that, if possible, advance payments should be made, to benefit from favorable exchange rates.
  8. What documentation is required to enter New Zealand, Canada & the USA?
    • A legal passport is required.
    • An entry visa is required for NZ, this can be processed when purchasing your airline ticket.
  9. What is the difference between categories in the tour packages?
    • The only difference is the motorcycle selection.
    • The tour content is the same.
  10. What is PMT’s C-19 action plan?
    • PMT’s focus, always has been and will continue to be, the safety of our friends & clients.
    • PSMT will follow the guidelines established in each Country, State or Province combined with common sense and sound judgement to minimize any risk related to C-19, or any other public health issue.
    • Hotels, restaurants, gas stations and attractions will be verified beforehand to ensure they are also following recommended guidelines. Some attractions may be removed from a tour if we do not feel that the safety of our clients and staff are protected.
    • As is the case with all PSMT tours, each client is responsible for observing and following best practices and safety guidelines to ensure their own safety; and are encouraged to discuss any concerns with their Tour Guide, if they feel that recommended safety guidelines are not being followed.
  11. Can I rent a Harley Davidson in New Zealand?
    • Yes, large bikes such as HD or Honda Gold Wings are available; however, there is a higher cost for this style.
    • New Zealand roads are not superhighways, so large motorcycles are not always practical.
  12. What bikes do you have?
    • We offer a selection of BMW GS & RT models, along with mid-size Yamaha, Suzuki, & Hondas.
    • Bike selections change regularly, so monitor our web site to stay current on makes & models.
    • New Zealand roads are best suited for mid-size motorcycles.
    • 600 cc through to 1200 cc are the best sizes for NZ.
    • North American roads can handle larger motorcycles
  13. What happens if the motorcycle I select is not available?
    • When selecting your motorcycle also select a second choice, within your selected tour category, so if your first choice is not available you will still get a motorcycle of your choice.
  14. Is the airfare included in the price?
    • No, airfare is not included in the package price.
    • Your tour begins at the airport in the city where you pick up your bikes and ends at the airport in city where you drop off your rental bike.
    • You will be met at the airport upon your arrival and shuttled to your hotel.
    • At the end of the tour, you will be shuttled back to the airport for you return trip home.
  15. What airlines fly to New Zealand?
    • Air New Zealand-Star Alliance.
    • United-Star Alliance airlines.
    • Oneworld airline alliance.
    • American airlines,
    • Qantas,
    • Fiji airlines,
    • Various other international airlines.
  16. Can additional days be added?
    • Yes, additional days before the start of the tour or after the end of the tour can be added.
    • Depending upon the availability of motorcycles, additional rental days can be arranged also.
    • Additional charges will be required for additional days, motorcycle rental or other items not included in the tour package.
  17. How many miles per day?
    • Most days average 200 miles (320 km) / day.
    • Days can range from 150 or less up to 260 miles / day.
  18. How long is the average day?
    • You can expect on average 6 – 8 hr. days, with a range of 5 – 10 hrs.
    • This is not all riding, depending on various stops and attractions.
    • With NZ’s & Canada’s winding roads, even low mile days can be extended hrs.
  19. Can riding gear be rented?
    • Yes, you can rent helmets & gloves; however, availability and a good fit is not always guaranteed.
    • We recommend that you bring your own riding gear to ensure you are comfortable and have the best experience possible.
  20. Are helmets required?
    • Yes, on all PMT tours helmets are required, regardless of the regional laws.
    • Suitable boots, gloves, jackets & riding pants are strongly recommended.
    • NZ & Canada are mandatory helmet countries.
    • Some states in the US are mandatory helmet states.
  21. Is insurance required
    • Motorcycle insurance is available and recommended.
    • This is not included in the tour price.
  22. Is luggage storage available?
    • Yes, your large luggage can be left at the bike rental location for pick up on your return.
    • However, for one-way tours, they will not be at your destination unless pre-arrangements have been made.
  23. Are panniers / hard bags available?
    • All bikes have hard bags,
    • Some have top boxes.
    • Tank bags may be available for an additional cost. There are a limited number.
  24. Are GPS available?
    • Yes, GPS are available for an additional cost.
    • There are a limited number.
  25. Are tie-downs required on the ferries?
    • Yes tie-downs are required.
    • Some ferries have them
    • PMT will provide tie-downs for use during the tour.
  26. What type/style of accommodation is available?
    • All tour packages are based on shared accommodation,
    • Private rooms are available, for an additional fee.
    • Accommodation ranges from compact cabins, modern hotels, and a couple of 100 yr. old hotels.
    • The farm stay is in well-appointed units. Some with bathroom, some with shared bathroom.
  27. Is a support vehicle available?
    • Yes, a support vehicle is available. There is an additional cost.
    • However, in most cases, one is not needed.
  28. Do you ride off road?
    • We do not go off road.
  29. What are the road conditions?
    • Other than for road construction / repairs, all roads are sealed and in good condition.
    • Occasionally a tour may include some back roads that are well maintained unsealed gravel. This will be identified in the tour package.
  30. Can I have my GPS, GoPro, or other devices mounted on my rental motorcycle?
    • Yes, devices and power connectors can be mounted on your bike at the time of pickup.
    • There may be a mounting fee. This will be identified at the time of booking.
  31. What sort of weather can I expect?
    • As always weather is unpredictable and can change with little notice.
    • NZ’s weather is influenced by the Pacific Ocean with sea breezes being quite common.
    • November can be wet, spring type weather.
    • December through February are generally drier, with daytime temperatures averaging around 75-85°F. Nighttime temperatures are generally warm but can be cool depending on where you are on the islands.
    • March through April are generally cooler and drier. Nighttime temperatures will be cooler.
    • As with all weather patterns, it is changeable and can be significantly higher or lower that yearly averages.
    • A tropical storm can blow in for the ocean, bringing heavy rain at times.
    • It is recommended that you bring some clothing suitable for cooler temperatures, particularly cooler evening & night temperatures.
    • North American weather is influenced by the Rocky Mountains and also subject to changes and afternoon storms along the western ranges.
    • June through October is generally warm and dry.
    • Into every tour a little rain may fall.
  32. Should I bring rain gear?
    • NZ is a pacific Island nation and rain is common throughout the entire yr.
    • Some tours will travel through a temperate rain forest, where annual rainfall is measured by the meter/yard.
    • Good rain gear is recommended.
    • Boot & glove covers are recommended.
    • Even in the Rocky Mountains rain is common through the summer months.
    • Into every tour a little rain may fall.
